Laboring

My lovely amiga Krystal is laboring as I write this. She's been in the hospital now for 29 hours. TWENTY-NINE HOURS. That's a long time. And ohhhhhhhhh, she is such a sweet, dear friend, expecting her first baby -- a sweet baby girl they're naming Anna. But sweet Baby Girl Anna is NOT in a hurry to come out and meet Mama face to face.

I have been anticipating The Call all day. We got the "in the hospital" text last night and I've talked to both of her parents and her husband. (Sheesh, I'm totally a stalker!)

But The Call has not come. And tonight at 9 she was going to try to sleep for a couple hours while an epidural took the edge off some major back labor. I just ache FOR her! Laboring is such hard work. I just want Anna to come out!

And so tonight as I was thinking about Krystal and praying for strength and endurance for her, this is one of the verses that came to mind.

1 Corinthians 15:10 (New King James Version)

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

I say Amen to that! She's laboring FOREVER! And that's just me being impatient. LOL. She's laboring more abundantly than she had hoped, I'm sure, but you know what... I know my friend well enough to know that when Anna is laid on her chest for the first time, Krystal will be saying... "God's grace toward me was not in vain, the grace of God was WITH me." Holy Spirit, fill that hospital room with your presence and BREATHE a new strength, a new endurance, and ultimately a NEW LIFE into that room!

Can't wait to meet the Irwins -- Family of Three!

Oh, do tell that sweet Krystal--praising God with you--when you see her. What a beautiful thing, birth is such a praiseworthy, awe inspiring wonder. If the Lord had not called us to adopt, I would have continued to have babies, I love it.

Oh Kell. I just read this again, as I'm making a book for A with bloggy kinda stuff and am just weeping over your love and prayers over me and remembering this day and His faithfulness towards me, as I can now see so much more clearly on the other side. You are a deep and dear friend. Thank you for always laboring with me in prayer and sincere heartfelt concern and love.
