Mom makes it a point to ask, "How was your day, Dad?" And then the big kids ask each other and Mommy about their day. It's so fun to hear them describe their day. A recap of the day's events sounds so exciting from their perspective, when it can often times be the same as yesterday (and the day before) for the Mom.
What I'm realizing is that we are in the act of making meal time, "family time." One day there will be so much more to talk about than which puzzle they did. They'll (hopefully) be coming to Mom & Dad with things that are "puzzling" them -- friends, faith, sex...whatever!
So today, we enjoy the simplicity of their perspective. And the wisdom of these babes as it pours from their mouths like such sweet nectar.
"Kennady, where do babies come from?"
With all the matter-of-fact-ness of an expert midwife,
after pondering a moment, she answers,
after pondering a moment, she answers,
"From Mary!"
"Oh," Daddy says, "Well, how will the baby in
Mommy's tummy come out?"
"Um. Like a balloon, the baby will just POP!"
I'm so glad the Lord holds the whole pregnancy/childbirth process in His very hands. He is my Creator & then He knits together the spirits, souls & bodies of my precious children. That's really awesome!
For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.
Psalm 139:13-16

Ahhh....what a blessing these little ones are. I was taking a walk with Eryn today and smiled and laughed with her. I am humbled as a Mommy--and constantly telling my kids that they need to thank Jesus that He lives in my heart. Keep your eyes on eternity sister. See you in a few weeks. Hugs!
Look forward to the days when I'll have my own little pot-full of joybabies at the table!
No, not yet, not just yet, but someday!
